Andy Light has been playing drums and percussion in excess of 15 years. During this time he has had the privilege of playing for a number of top bands and orchestras, including Black Dyke Brass Band,  The Ernest Reed Orchestra, Warwick University Symphony Orchestra, Royal Airforce Central Band and London College of Music Big Band and Symphonic Wind Bands where he became principle percussionist.

Andy has also played in many other rock and jazz bands, both recording and playing live. He has played gigs in London venues such Dublin Castle in Camden, Rock Garden in Covent Gardens and Camden Palais as well as venues abroad which include a birthday party for the British Ambassador in the British Embassy, Brussels. Currently Andy is playing for The Imposter$, a 4 piece function band based in Farnborough, Hampshire. 

Andy has been teaching drums for the past 12 years both as a private tutor and as a peripertetic teacher. He has taught pupils of all ages including pupils as young as 7! Many of his pupils have gone on to study music at top music institutions such as London College of Music, Guildhall College of Music, Trinity College of Music as well as Drumtech and ACM Guildford.

In 2000 Andy completed his BMus Performance degree at the London College of Music and won the British Reserve Percussionist of the Year Award. He then went on to study for his PGCE in 2002 at Oxford Brookes University.

Andy is currently Head of Music at a school in Reading, a post he has held for the last 4 years.
